Arunachal University of Studies caters to the higher education needs of students of the entire Brahmputra belt which includes the prominent towns and districts like North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Namrup, Naharkatia, Margherita, Dulijan, Digboi, Kakopathar, Dumdooma, Golaghat, Moran, Jorhat, Sibsagar, Upper Siang, Siang, Dibang Valley, Lower Dibang Valley, Anjaw, Lohit, Changlang, Tirap, Longding, Pasighat, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. The University has been established by the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh through an Act of State Legislator. The University is duly recognized by UGC u/s 2(f) and is empowered to award degrees specified u/s 22 of UGC Act 1956. It is the member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. The certifications issued by the University are globally accepted. Situated at the serene location of Namsai district, the University is blessed with the affection of Lord Donyi (Sun), as ‘The First University to witness the sunrise in India’. It enjoys the status of being the ‘Extreme North-Eastern University of India in Arunachal Pradesh, which is also popular for the famous Buddhist temple and monastery, The Kongmu Kham (Golden Pagoda).
